The cozy maison d’hôte ”A lombre du marronnier” is located on the hillside of the picturesque village of La Peruse in Poitou-Charentes. The large Charentais farmhouse dates from 1868 and once you enter inside you immediately enjoy the quiet cozy atmosphere and authenticity of yesteryear. The large garden with covered pergola invites endless fun and relaxation. During the long hot days you can take a dip in the pool with stunning views of the valley. In the shadow of the magnificent chestnut you can dream the day away in the hammock. For the little ones the garden and barn are a voyage of discovery, where they can play, splashing in the water or building castles in the sand to their heart’s content.
The region itself boasts beautiful landscapes and charming villages. The sport enthusiasts will find something to their taste, water sports, golf, horseback riding, biking and birdwatching. It’s all a stone’s throw from here. After a wonderful day you can sit down to a table inside the house or in the garden and taste the delicacies from the region.
Who are we?
‘Living like God in France’ this says it all! France has something hard to describe and it exerts on many an irresistible attraction. Is it the calm, climate, beautiful landscapes, culture, delicious cuisine, the ‘joie de vivre’, growing up in a carefree environment for small Zita. These elements were more than enough for us so we left Belgium and ventured here our lives to give a different turn. In the Poitou-Charentes region we were immediately felt in love and after a search only 6 months we found this lovely house with the large chestnut tree. We went to look after people and let them enjoy the pleasant environment in a casual atmosphere. Here they can rest relax and play! Guests who leave as friends and return soon is our primary target. We look forward to seeing you and hope you as much as we will enjoy life in France.
Debby and Zita.
